THE “ABC OF AFRICAN CHILDREN’S MEDIA” SUMMER COURSE HELD AT OHIO UNIVERSITY

MA African students (3 from Ghana, 1 from Nigeria, and 1 from Sudan) participated in the “ABC OF AFRICAN CHILDREN’S MEDIA” Summer Course which was held for 3 weeks at Ohio University.   

Firdoze Bulbulia, the Chairperson of Children and Broadcasting Foundation for Africa (CBFA), Director of  Moments Entertainment and Director of Africa’s Best Channel (ABC) who has headed the workshop stated the COURSE OBJECTIVES as follow:

“Providing an overview of the African Children’s media with a specific concentration on the development and production of children’s media in Africa, especially South Africa and Nigeria.

The course also examined how Africa’s children’s media developed post the 5thand 6thWorld Summits on Media for Children in 2007 and 2010, respectively.

Participants were expected to:

Produce a mock Children’s Channel or Children’s Belt of programmes with a motivation for scheduling of children’s programmes; or Prepare a Business Plan for an African Children’s Channel; or Write a short script- either documentary or drama - on an African focused children/ youth story
