The Iranian film “A separation” receives the Best Foreign Language Oscar

The Iranian film “A separation”, directed by Asghar Farhadi, received 84th Academy Award for the Best Foreign Language film.

This film was nominated in “Best Foreign Language” and “Screenplaycategories.

The film,originally entitled "The Separation of Nader from Simin”, is the first Iranian film receiving Oscar and the second Iranian film nominated in this category; the first being "Children of Heaven" in 1999.

After receiving the award, Asghar Farhadi greeted “the nice people of his land” and added:At the time when Politicians talk about war, intimidation, and aggression, the Iranian are happy to hear the name of their country, Iran, is spoken here through its glorious culture; a rich and ancient culture that has been hidden under the heavy dust of politics. I am honored to grant this award to the people of my country, who respect all cultures and civilizations and are against any violence and hostility.”

A Separation” has won the Golden Bear for best film, the Golden Globe for foreign film, the Independent Spirit award for the best foreign language film, among others.

Martin Scorsese’s3D fantasy“Hugo”dominating Oscars with 11 nominations received Academy Award for the Best Art Direction, Best Cinematography, Best Sound Editing , Best  Sound  Mixing, Best Visual Effects

Martin Scorsese had won the best director Oscar for the 2006 movie “The Departed”.
